Feeling OLD !!!

I guess I don't look old enough to be married that is why people are often surprised to learn that I am. The client I am working for was quite surprised to learn that I was married. To tell you the truth sometimes its a surprise to me also ... Oh!! I am no longer a boy ... I am married. In many respects it still has not settled in. The realization makes me feel older

One of my school friend was blessed with a baby boy today. It was so difficult to believe that we are no longer boys but grown ups. It feels like yesterday when we were in school, competing with friends for the highest score in all subjects, fighting over lunch boxes, dreading the upcoming exams, jumping with joy on unexpected holidays, planning weeks ahead for outings and very soon we will have younger ones doing the same.

We may have crossed the most beautiful part of our lives but life still has become more beautiful than ever as we have found someone to share our lives with, someone to love, someone who loves us, someone to care for ...

Congratulations to my friend for being blessed with that someone in his life.

Happy Birthday to Me

Being all alone on ones birthday is the worst thing that could happen to anyone. When I came to Hyderabad on Sunday I was already feeling low that I would be spending my birthday away from loved ones.
Was expecting a few calls at midnight ... But I guess people just fell asleep. Morning was no better. Reached office to know that some old files were missing and my manager was furious. I was so sure it was going to be a bad day ... a bad year.
It’s amazing how few assuring words, some crazy laughs, a few email and dinner with a close friend can change everything.
The day ... the year just looks a little brighter to me.

Picnic @ IBIZA Merlin Greens Resort

Papa told me yesterday that we are going for some sidey picnic organised by AVANTIKA ( A Pvt. Organisation of Marwari Lawyers and CAs in kolkata). Though I have very fond memories of Avantika Picnics but then was the time when Shradha, Manish, Anant, Rahul and other friends were here in Kolkata. Planning for the picnic would start days earlier. But today was something different. I didnt wanted to go for the simple fact that none of the above mentioned persons were here in  kolkata plus going there with parents without knowing anyone and sitting like a fool in a group of aunties was like a complete pain. Still I had no enthu to argue with Papa for not going so I decided that I would fake fever or something similar in the morning and try not going.

There were other petty reasons for not going. One of them was that my mom was becoming a little panicky about my dress to be worn for the picnic. The Club is supposedly full of my "in-Laws". So she wanted me to wear ethnic. though I managed to talk her out of this. I become a little kiddish and silly when I go for such outings. So one of the several other petty reasons were that I didnt wanted to create a bad impression in front of my "in-Laws". The last but the most important reason for not going was that the picnic outing will make me miss ANANT like anything and the feeling will be such that would not be easy to handle.

There were very few reasons for going namely good food ( Club Kachori Subzi for Breakfast, Matar kachori and Gajar Halwa for Lunch & Nicely prepared Elaichi Tea and Snax Biscuits for Evening), Housie Prize and Badminton.

Mom woke me up and I decided that lets go....my last picnic with my parents.
The Car journey was boring. The only relief was the sms chat with ANNU. He writes good, extremely short, some 10 words sweet SMSs and rest is left upon me to decipher( when I write SMSs then its almost always a 2 SMS linked thing).
Anyways, I reached the Venue and the first person I saw was my Mother-in-Law. After all the social formalities, she made me meet one of the most eldest grandmother of the Sancheti Clan.( What I Hear about her is that she is the most strictest of the persons and she is not those jolly jolly types). I shivered. But I found Bariya Dadisa to be very nice and she really made me comfortable. She conversed with me for some time about my hobbies, my education, my interests , etc etc.

The Venue, IBIZA, is a nice place. They have a lot of facilities on offer, Pool, Library, TV, Mini Golf, Boating, Snooker, Etc etc. It has around 6-7 Huge garden areas. I Liked the place.

I had certain Assumptions about the Picnic but now when I am writing this, I realise that 99% of my assumptions were wrong( Thankfully).

WHAT WAS DELIGHTFUL

I saw Papaji playing Badminton with a group of girls. I rushed there to play with him. Special mention that for his age and structure, he plays pretty well.
Then came the most most memorable part....playing badminton with Mummyji. She is one of the very few fine players of the game I have ever come across. She is an amazing player. I had a gala time playing with her. I hope even she enjoyed playing the game with me. Both of us have decided that we will take badminton rackets to Bangalore so that we can play when ANANT is not around.
My "in-Laws" were not at all strict...they made me very comfortable. Just like their very own daughter. I feel blessed to have Such Loving Parents-in-law.

I rode a swing and riding the merry-go-round with my sister-in-law Megha was fun. Bachpan ke din yaad aa gaye...in short maza aa gaya...

Playing Housie reminded me of those good ol' days where each one of held 5 tickets to win the prize...but this time i bought only 2...(yaar inflation has struck Housie Tickets also....with every picnic the rates of tickets are going up...i remember buying a ticket for 5 Bucks....but today i had to part with precious 20 rupee note for a ticket.) I had a deal with Papaji, mummyji, megha, mummy, papa that i will take whatever they win in the game. But alas nobody hit the jackpot. (Boo hoo hoo). But nonetheless the game was fun with papaji passing funny remarks and we cheering and jeering for the winners.

THINGS THAT DISAPPOINTED ME

Avantika outings are very famous for their food quality. But this time it was a complete disappointment. The food was not good at all....a complete turn-off.
As mentioned above...I didn't win any housie prize. So again coming to the picnic was a bad idea. The Organising committee of Avantika didn't organise any games where I had a scope to win.

When I write this...my hands are paining of all the badminton game I played...my legs paining with all the swing rides..jumping and running...I feel that the day was not a complete waste. I enjoyed a lot just a small thing...had ANANT would have been here...the experience would have been completely different.

Random Thoughts !

2008 !!! hmmm ... Till date it has been the most happening year of my life. This year has been nothing short of a full fledged hindi movie in which there is action, thrill, comedy, horror, emotions etc.
This year has been the most fulfilling year. It is in this year I became a CA. It is in this year my favorite and closest cousin Shailee got married and not to forget ... it is in this year I could see my most precious and special dream come true ... YES .... getting engaged to my first crush, my first love, my childhood sweetheart, my prince charming, my ANANT.

2nd Decemeber 2008 will be one of the best days of my life...or rather OUR life. Since morning there was a lot of nervousness in the air specially for annu...who was calling me continuously and describing his state of mind. This was the day i saw myself for the first time ever in full bridal attire with a beautiful saree and jewellery and a perfect hairdo and make up  and all tht jazz. I was too worried for the fact that MY ANNU would not recognise me, Though everybody around me including my ma kept on saying that i was looking very pretty but i was not convinced. I wanted to call annu to LALA ka dukan so tht i can show him and ask for his opinion on my dressup. But of course i cudnt do tht. The entire time i was shit worried and tensed that annu will hate me for the way am looking.

We reached the venue much before he did and i , like a distressed girl captured on a high tower waited for my prince charming to come and rescue me. And then after a long wait he came..One look at him and my Heart skipped a beat. No No...i think it stopped beating.
He has never looked so handsome as he did that day. With the black suit and the red silk shirt and not to forget the killer smile, he looked the most elegant, dashing, smart, handsome Groom a bride has ever had on this planet. I fell in love with him all over again and yes with triple ferocity.THU THU.

He was standing bang opposite to where i was sitting but he was looking somewhere else..i think he was searching for me everywhere else except for the place i was sitting. i wanted to shout and let him know tht honey am sitting here....am sorry for dissapointing u for the way am looking...etc. etc...but being the bride i had to be quiet and behave myself which was against the way i am. He still couldnt find me as he was busy talking to his newly found father-in-law and brother-in-law...social courtesies....being the impatient girl i am, i sent ridhi to ask him to look at me....but before she could do tht....His eyes found me....i froze....but the approving smile he had on his face said it all....no words can ever express the joy he had in eyes. His lovely warm smile and his loving eyes told me tht i was looking perfect to be his bride. He came beside me and held my hand infront of all the family members present thr... and i was convinced that no matter what happens...this man will always be by my side and will never leave me alone.  I thanked god a million times to give me such a wonderful Groom.

From the time he was made to sit beside me....and the ring ceremony and all the other family functions and till the time i slept in the night....things seemed as if a movie is being played in a fast forward mode....I WAS FINALLY ENGAGED TO THE MAN I HV LOVED ALL MY LIFE AND WILL LOVE HIM ALL MY LIFE AND BEYOND THAT TOO.

LOVE YA MY ANNU BABY!!!

Too many questions

July and August (so far) has been nothing less than a roller coaster ride. So many things happening all around me. Some that bring joy others that arouse sadness and some that makes me stop and thing – how stupid can I be?
So many moments and events that have shaped and reshaped the course of life. So many feelings playing in my mind. So many things I wanna talk about. So many things I wanna share.
Lets take this one by one:

Loved
I am blessed. I have felt true love not once, not twice but three times. I have always received more love and care from them than I could possibly imagine. Its true, guys cannot match (don’t even come close) the love and care that a woman (in love) can shower. Pure. Unconditional. Selfless.
Sometimes I wonder if what I feel is at all LOVE. Is it pure, unconditional and selfless?

Touched
All the people in my life whom I admire lookup to and am really close to have touched me in a way which words just can’t explain. I wanna be like them. Do things the way they do. Think the way they do.

Loosing
The feeling they you have something so special and that you are going to loose it … killing. Trying desperately to hold on and the rope is just slowly slowly slipping away.

Disappointed
I really enjoy my work. Though I may crib about it feel that I am not doing justice to the work entrusted on me … still I love what do. For a person like me who gets bored with stuff very fast and can’t do routine jobs for long, challenges are a must. Consulting is the field I guess can keep me engaged. At the end of the day money is also important and with me getting married soon (for those of my friends who have been living under a rock … the big day is on 26 Feb 2009) finances are on my mind even more.

Interview
No job interview I am talking about here. Trust me they are much easier to go through and crack. You can prepare for them and rehearse for them. Whats difficult is an interview with your prospective father-in-law. There is so much at stake … your life and your future. I have never been so nervous … ever in my life. I was sure I will screw things up bad. I reached 15 min earlier and was waiting with a lump in my chest almost choking me. Today as in remember that day again is feels so funny and stupid. I was unnecessarily scared and anxious. As they say … all is well that ends well. I don’t know if I managed to impress my father-in-law or not but what matters that now I am engaged.

Engagement
I never thought it would be so easy. Things happened more smoothly than I had ever imagined it in my dreams. In fact I had thought of all possible things that could go wrong and prepared a contingency plan for each one of those scenarios. Perhaps I was so busy thinking about the things that could go wrong that I never imagined things would just fall in place.

Life Update - August 17, 2008

As i make my way to Bangalore city from the BIAL Airport i cant help thinking about how my life has changed in the last week I have spent in Kolkata. I no longer have a girl friend in my life but i am not single either. Finally, without much turmoil (nothing compared to what I was expecting ... Thanks God) my in-laws have agreed to tie the knot. On August 15, both my dads (my dad and her dad ... I am supposed to refer to her dad as 'papaji') formally met and decided that their happiness lies in the happiness of their children. Coincidentally my mom and dad's rishta was decided on the same day 32 years back. Both my dad and I lost our independence on Independence day (for those souls who slept through history classes ... August 15 is celebrated as the Indian independence day). Date of formal engagement and marriage should be final shortly. Expecting the marriage during February end.

Fwd: Wats ur Score?????? :-)

In the world of romance, one single rule applies to men:

My New Nokia 6300

Fellow bloggers and non bloggers,

I am writing on my blog after 8 months. Have been busy with my job.

After loosing my N73 ... i still miss that phone. Never even got the chance to write a review on it. Never mind that.
After loosing my N73, i bought myself a Nokia 6300 ... not that i prefer it over N73, its just that i didn't have the money to go for another N73. For Rs. 8850 it seemed a good deal.
The first thing you will notice about the phone is the use of metal. Stainless steel back cover and the rim of the front panel. Use of metal gives the phone a very sturdy feel. The phone definitely has a very good built quality.
With this phone nokia has made its entry in the "who had the slimmest phone" competition.
The moment you switch on 6300, the screen come alive and u notice its like no other. Yes ... this is the best display among all nokia phone. It supports some 16 million colors and is very bright and crisp. This has a down side too ... the more brighter the screen the more battery it consumes. There is also no option for reducing or increasing the screen brightness. In the initial few days i used to find the screen too bright for my eyes and i still do so if i am using the phone in absolute darkness.
The number keys are large and easy to use. Makes typing SMS a real treat. The key pad is distinctly soft too. The navigation keys are decent ... i particularly had difficulty in scrolling up. I feel the call & end and the softkeys could have been a little bigger. Key pad lighting is a cool blue and evenly lights up all the keys.
The phone comes with a 128 mb micro SD card. Less if u plan to use it as a portable music player. It would be a wise idea to buy a 1 gb card. (should not cost u more than Rs. 1000).
The music player is average. One very peculiar this was that i was unable to create playlists using the phone. I had to connect the phone to the computer and create the playlist using the PC suit software. The music player automatically scanned and added all the music file that were present on my memory card and phone memory. U might feel thats a good thing ... but it might not sound great if u have 150 mp3 ringtones on ur memory card. There is no option of choosing a particular folder that the player will add to the track list.
The phone comes bundled with a stereo headset. The music quality is average. Thought the songs are very clear but the bass effect is totally missing ... wat they refer to as the "THUMP" is missing.
The thing that totally pissed me off about the phone was the speakers. The speakers are located at the back of the phone ... very unusual for Nokia. Almost all of nokia phone have their speakers located on the sides. This created a problem ... if u keep the phone screen up on a soft surface like ur bed, its most likely that u wont be able to hear the phone ring if u are out of the room. The quality of the soung is also not that great. If the vibrator is off and u are in a crowded place like a mall u are most likely to miss ur calls too.
The default ringtones on the phone are really pathetic.
The camera is 2 mega pixel and has good outdoor picture quality. The night more works well but once u transfer the picture to ur computer u cant miss the grains. As is the case with other nokia phone cameras, the pics are the best when taken outdoors on a sunny day.
Another problem with the phone is the battery life. If u are one of those kinds who cant stay alive without ur phone ... u would need a charge every 12-16 hours. I believer the screen consumes a lot of power and leads to bad battery life.

UP SIDES

1. Awesome Screen
2. Good build quality and looks
3. Value for money
4.

DOWN SIDES

1. Headphones & Speaker
2. Battery Life below nokia standard
3. No flash

I will be posting some of the pics i took with my 6300 shortly. Am also making a collection of themes games & application for Nokia 6300, will be uploading it soon. Till then ... take care.

Goa Trip

Last to last weekend we were in Goa soaking the sun and relaxing ... and not to forget that once the sun went down, partying and drinking. It had been long since i last took a holiday. it was a welcome break.

Harsh was supposed to join us too but he had his own stupid problems which obviously were so personal that he wouldn't tell us about it. The trip was fun without him but it would have been even more crazy fun if he came along ... after all he is the craziest one.

HARSH ... WE MISSED U IN GOA

Reaching There: Me & Adarsh were supposed to reach Goa on the 4th of November, so we had to get a bus on the previous night (Bangalore - Goa: 16 hours bus journey overnight). Gunjan and Abhyuday were supposed to join us from Kolkata. We took the sleeper bus tickets. the so called berths were too small for two guys (one with a couple of extra pounds) but i couldn't help but think how perfect it would be for a couple (hehehe). we reached Panji at 12:30pm. Panji is the capital of Goa but it doesn't have any good beaches. Thanks to a lot of googling and some discussion with my sis (who visited Goa just a few months back) we had already a list of the must see beaches of Goa. (Bagha, Condolin. Anjuna etc) so off we went and after some 30 min cab ride we were at bagha beach. After looking at a few accommodation options we finalized "GOA SILA". it was no 5 star but was decent with clean rooms (before we entered it) a pool and complimentary breakfast.

Day 01: It was 3 pm and we were ready to explore Goa. that would have proved difficult on an empty stomach. Lunch was the first thing on our mind. For the first time ever i tried some non-veg food. i wouldn't say it was bad but it was nothing gr8 too. Veg food still rocks for me. The aluminum king had more important business to attend to so he was headed for Panji to attend ... any guesses ... some aluminum seminar. After our hunger satisfied and our thirst quenched (nothing beats some beer ... ok ok .. lots of beer) we headed for the beach. I must confess we were quite over dressed for any beach leave apart a beach full of firangi babes in bikinis. There were Bars and restaurants all along the beach. We checked them out trying to figure out the party spots. The sun, the sand and the babes ... wat was missing was alcohol. So we decided to lie down and enjoy some drinks.
By 5.30 our king has returned from his seminar. so we headed back to the hotel to prepare for the night. The walk back took us some 30 min. Sunsets on a beach are so romantic ... it constantly reminded me of my love. Wish she was there by my side.
All dressed up for Saturday night we left hotel at around 8.30. Had some snacks at a beach side restaurant and finally headed towards the only disc in bagha beach ... Teto's. The croud was not exactly as per our expectations ... too few gals. The music system and the light effects, though were worthy of a mention. The whole night we kept switching between Titos and the beach side bars before finally heading back to our hotel. it was way past midnight ... time to sleep.

Day 02: Day two began with me & Abu trying to get the other two boozoos up and ready in time for breakfast. We needed transport ... hiring a car seemed to be a good option. Before the fun could begin along came the aluminum king ... seminar seminar seminar. Showing some sympathy towards our beloved king we decided to drop him at Panji ... wat we got in return was a promise that he would not spend much time at the seminar (this trip was for pleasure ... and we intended to keep it that way). After dropping abu we drove around for some half hour ... basically heading no where. We stopped for lunch at a place known as the "Delhi Barbar" (u may find that there is an excessive mention about food ... what can i say ... i just loveeee foood). I must say that i did feel a little weird walking in a restaurant with shorts and a casual t-shirt on ... but who cared ... we were in Goa. Every one has heard about the local Goa drink ... Feni we all tried it (obviously except abu) and it was quite ... good. With abu back with us ... we decided to head back to Calingut Beack (adjacent to Bagha) This is the beach just next to Fort Agauda. One end of the beach is marked by rocky cliffs. It was less crowded as compared to Bagha.
It was now time for some water sports ... Para gliding was fun but Jet Skis were definitely better. Wow ... i would like to do that again...
This night our aim was to get drunk ... the whole night we hopped from one beach side bar to another.

Day 03: After our late night adventures morning was bound to come late ... this was our last day so we planned to relax and enjoy the sun and the sand ... We tool a ride to see some dolphins and had some fun in the water. The person who took us was some hell of a fellow. He took us to another beach ... Anjuna. This was a small beach with very few people and places to hang out. The water was crystal clear. After soaking the sun for sometime we headed back to Bagha beach where we spent the entire afternoon enjoying the waves.
I and Adarsh were supposed to leave tonight. Our bus was scheduled to leave at 7.30. So we headed back to the hotel packed our stuff got ready an decided to catch a quick bite before we left for Panji. We watched the sun go down as we finished our food ... it was time to say goodbye to Goa.

Life Update - 16/05/2006

Exams over, now the wait begins for the result. even thinking about results gets me tensed. god knows wat will happen. One of the important events that happened in the last 45 days is that i talked to my long lost friend AMIT. we found each other thru orkut (basically he was the one who found me). it was awesome to be back in touch with a friend whom u never expected to hear form again. more on that later. Life over all is going ok. exams were ok. other spheres of life going ok too. i need to decide wat i need to do next. cant just waste the next two months waiting for the results. need to make good use of this time. have nothing is mind yet. but a job seems to be the best option. i could definately use the extra pocket money. :)

After a long time i feel soo happy (keep guessing y).

Roughly a month a to go for my CA Final exams. Prepairations going well but as usual i am a few days behind schedule, but its nothing serious. i am under a lot of presure to clear this time. a lot depends on it. i have put in hard work but somewhere i always feel i could have done better. and i need to do better. i must do better.

Many of my friends moving out of the city. some for jobs others for studies. i will miss their company.

Haeven - Bryan Adams

Oh - thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothin' can take you away from me
We bin down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

Oh - once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down

Ya - nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way

N' baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

I've bin waitin' for so long
For something to arrive
For love to come along

Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Ya - I'll be standin' there by you
